Why we started

A well-run small business knows every week what came in, what went out and what it can afford next. It has a plan, a budget and someone who checks the numbers. Most households have none of that, even though the stakes at home are just as real.

BudgetPlan is being built by a small Australian team that includes a practising accountant who does this work for small businesses every day. We want to bring that same discipline home, in plain English, without a spreadsheet in sight.

What we believe

• Every dollar counts, and the best advice comes with the dollar figure attached.
• People stick with a budget that tells them what to do next.
• Financial literacy is built by doing, week after week, with your own numbers.
• Your money data belongs to you. We keep it in Australia and never sell it.

What we are not

We aren't a bank or a lender, and we don't sell credit cards, loans or financial products. BudgetPlan gives general information about your own spending. It isn't financial product advice.
